Singer-songwriter Mark Oblea is proud to put out his debut album “Panimula,” a collection of tracks that he considers a body of work that signifies his start in the music industry.
Mark first garnered attention as a finalist in Pinoy Boyband Superstar, and has since been signed to Universal Records. His biggest track to date includes his rendition of Tabi by Paraluman, which has already earned over 4 million streams on Spotify.
“Panimula” serves as Oblea’s exploration of different genres as he discovers his sound, as the 8-track album features different sounds, from pop rock, folk pop, to acoustic covers, with hits such as “Langit Pag Nandiyan,” “Ulap,” “Kabilugan ng Buwan,” and songs penned by the singer himself like “Labsong,” which features Ice Seguerra. The album also features some production collaborations with hitmaker Ito Rapadas, and Gracenote frontwoman Eunice Jorge.
The album currently features the single “Amor,” a song Mark penned inspired by a dear friend’s “greatest hardbreak.” The pop rock ballad, reminiscent of Pinoy banda sounds, takes you through a journey through the joys of love and pains of going through heartaches; Mark notes that the instrumentation itself reflects how heavy this experience can get from beginning to end. Talking more about the song, he says, “just like the lyrics ‘mabuti na rin siguro ang iyong nagawa’ the song is really about learning from past experiences, and accepting that some forms of love can only last for so long.”
After his journey towards making this album, there’s much to look forward to in this young musician’s career.
Panimula is now streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, and Deezer under Universal Records.
