There’s no denying how much the hallyu or Korean Wave has greatly influenced our culture then until now. From the way we dress up, talk and consume content on and offline, to the lengths we would go for as a fan—South Korean pop culture made its way into our hearts as fast as we fall for every Oppa in K-dramas.
The dream for every K-drama and K-pop fan is to visit South Korea, see their favorite idols and actors up close and personal, and be able to go to the popular places they’ve once seen in movies, drama series and music videos.
An avid K-drama Filipino fan has gone viral after he posted photos of him revisiting some of the popular filming locations of the hit JTBC series “Itaewon Class”. But after browsing through his profile on Facebook, everyone had the same reaction: “Sana all!“
Nelson Obrador, a machine operator based in Gyeonggi-do Province, South Korea, has been living out his fanboy dreams by visiting some of the notable filming locations of various K-dramas and chasing after his favorite stars in press cons, fan meetings, wrap-up parties, and other events.
After his “Itaewon Class Filming Locations” post went viral online, he shared that it was easy for him to track down some of the locations in the series since he was quite familiar with Itaewon.
“Hilig ko na po talaga mag-filming location simula nung nag-work na po ako dito sa Korea. [F]or me as a K-drama fan, sobrang saya na ma-visit yung mga lugar na napapanood mo lang sa tv, at once na mapuntahan ko na ‘to nagpa-flashback lahat ng scene na napanood ko,” he shares.
Aside from Itaewon, Obrador has also visited several filming locations—from Run BTS episodes, Academy Award-winning film “Parasite”, dramas like “Crash Landing on You” and many more.
He was also able to catch the cast of “Crash Landing on You” and “Hotel del Luna” during the dramas’ wrap-up parties and met some of the hottest stars of South Korea like Gong Yoo, Bae Suzy, Jang Na ra, Ji Chang Wook, Kim Go Eun, Jung Hae In, and Park Seo Joon.
Obrador has been working in South Korea for four years and said that he’s just waiting for his contract this year. The fanboying activities that he only gets to do every Sunday became his stress reliever after his workdays, and he’s hoping that he can resume doing these once the coronavirus situation in South Korea gets even better.
