The drive-by fashion brands to address the ongoing pandemic and positively support those in the frontline in the fight against the virus, most notably hospital staff, have shown no signs of waning.

The owner of Havaianas rallies to the cause in Brazil
Alpargatas, the company that owns Havaianas flip-flops, has stepped up to the plate to provide support for healthcare workers and vulnerable populations. The manufacturer plans to produce a quarter of a million N95 masks for public health services in the Brazilian states of Paraíba, Pernambuco, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro, and donate shoes to the hospital staff in São Paulo. Alpargatas will also distribute 100,000 kits containing Havaianas flip-flops, hygiene products and food to vulnerable communities in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Salvador and Belo Horizonte.
Tiffany & Co. Foundation donates $1 million
Last week, the Tiffany & Co. Foundation announced that it wished to contribute to the fight against COVID-19 with a donation of $1 million. Three quarters of this sum is to go to the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Response Fund, while $250,000 has been allocated for the city of New York. “During this global health crisis, we must all be responsive to the urgent needs of our global communities. We are proud to support organizations providing immediate relief for communities impacted by COVID-19, including our hometown of New York,” said Tiffany & Co. foundation president, Anisa Kamadoli Costa.
Hugo Boss to manufacture protective clothing
The Hugo Boss brand, which is already producing face masks, has announced that it will also manufacture protective clothing for workers combating the coronavirus. The initiative has been made possible by the temporary transformation of the brand’s conference rooms into workshops, which have now been kitted out with sewing machines and other equipment. The label has said that the masks and clothing will be donated to “public facilities such as nursing homes and fire departments in the coming weeks.” CL/JB
