Many fans may know Henry Cavill as either the Man of Steel or the White Wolf from Rivia. But one title a lot of fans still seem to question is his self-proclaimed fantasy geek status. And who can blame them? When we think of Henry Cavill, we don’t immediately see a “geek”.
The Witcher actor, however, puts those questions to rest when he posted an image of himself painting miniature figures from the game Warhammer.
“So, as you can see here, the obvious might look a little bit like a tiny helmet…which it is. One of my almost life long hobbies, that I’ve been following but not actively doing, is this. A company called Games Workshop…or plastic crack as ‘we’ call it. Genuinely can’t get enough of the lore they have built over the decades. They have been some of my most enthused reads! If you were in denial about me being a geek before, you can’t hide from it now,” Cavill wrote on the caption.
Since he posted this image last April 13, fantasy fangirls (and fanboys) couldn’t help but gush over the actor’s honest appreciation for the genre. One person wrote, “[It’s] So good to see someone in the public eye proud to be involved in the hobby I love. Many people, including myself, tend to hide the things [I] love to do for fear of being mocked or potential embarrassment. Well done, and more power to you! Let’s see updates as you get the Custodes done!.” While another user commented, “My geekometer readings on you are off the charts!! Glad that you’ve got to assume your geekness!!! It’s nice to have a manual hobbies these days! Stay safe Geralt!! (I do embroidery)”.
On the same Facebook post, Cavill also applauded the healthcare workers for their efforts during this worldwide outbreak.
“I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank, from the bottom of my heart, all of the NHS (National Health Service, here in the UK) and healthcare workers worldwide, for your unceasing efforts to protect us. I imagine it might be feeling a little rough right now, but you Ladies and Gents are absolutely smashing it! Keep it up! You got this.”
Just like the rest of us, Cavill is currently spending his time at home since the UK announced its lockdown.
