‘Trese’ fan-comic featuring Wolverine and Batman can now be read online

Pinoy comic book fans are all too familiar with Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldisimo’s Trese series. The graphic novels, which focus on Filipino mythology, has captured the interest of many readers–bringing to light the depth and artistry of local folklore.

In this particular issue, however, Tan and Baldisimo add a little dose of Western popular culture to their traditional Filipino-centric saga. Because in Trese: Night at the Museum,  the creators introduce Alexandra Trese to DC Universe‘s Bruce Wayne (a.k.a. Batman) and Marvel ComicsWolverine.

This crossover comic was created by Tan and Baldisimo back in 2012. It was initially made as a “warm-up” for Tan as he prepared to write the next Trese volume. With this in mind, the duo initially didn’t think this would turn into a full-fledged story.

“I wrote this fanfic story and told Kajo it was something we can do for fun. Batman and Wolverine are two of our favorite characters and we don’t know if we’ll ever get the chance to official[ly] do a story with these two guys. So, instead of waiting, we decided to make one for our own enjoyment,” Tan wrote on the Trese blog.

Tan also mentioned that the original script was “10 pages long” but it increased because Baldisimo decided to add “more fight scenes” and an “epilogue”. Through it all though, the two are very happy with the end result and they hope their readers will be able to enjoy it too.

“This is one of those things that just took seven years to make, but I think it was worth the wait.[I] Hope you guys like it as well!”
