As part of adjusting to the new normal, employers take their teams to a digital workplace like Zoom to get more done amidst the COVID-19-related distractions. However, there are instances when Zoom meetings can be used not just to interact with bosses and clients, but also to break someone’s heart.
In times like this (where everyone can fall victim to the new coronavirus) you’d better do it online than have face-to-face communication with this person.
On Twitter, Journalist Julia Moser shared her heartbreaking experience recently. In the caption, Moser asked her followers about whether she is the first person who has been dumped through the web-based video tool.
am i the first person who's been dumped via zoom?

Soon after, the tweet immediately went viral with Twitter users participating in the conversation. Turns out, the same thing happened to others—not on Zoom but on other platforms such as Skype, Messenger, and FaceTime.
My college bf broke up with me via FaceTime. The app. While I was in Paris. The City of Love. On Christmas Day. The most wonderful time of year.

And just when you thought this only happens in dating, another online user shared that he had been laid off via Powerpoint! What’s even worse is that it happened way back, even before the global pandemic.
I was once laid off via PowerPoint.

While Moser is seriously trying to wrap her head around the breakup, some of her followers couldn’t help but engage in a clever exchange of retorts. One person asked, “what was the background image?” to which another Twitter user replied with, “It’s not you…it’s my bandwidth.”
During these uncertain times, we have no choice but to accept a “virtual breakup” no matter how cold and heartless it may sound. After all, it’s way better than being ghosted all of a sudden.
