As kids, many of us may have daydreamed about an imaginary runner keeping up with whatever vehicle we were riding in, whose skill in parkour depends on the degree of imagination one has.
But that was all it ever was, imagination… until this Japanese kid manifested it into reality.
With just a sheet of transparent paper and a cutout of a little red ninja, who is aptly posed to look like he is running, a boy aboard a train in Japan turned his window view into an exciting running course. Fortunately, it was all captured on video by Twitter user @fuki_fuki, who uploaded it to the social media platform on Jan. 17.

Ever since its uploading, this simple yet relatable idea has taken the internet by storm, gaining around 70,000 retweets and around 266,000 likes on Twitter as of writing.
This boy’s playtime also somehow breaks the stereotype for the members of Generation Z and younger, showing that not all the children of today have their eyes glued to the screens of their gadgets. It also shows that the fire of imagination in the young human mind is alive.
The uploader, @fuki_fuki, a maker of handmade toys, most likely came up with the idea for her imaginative companion’s new commuting pastime, as per Sora News yesterday, Jan. 21.
Twitter users from different parts of the world were driven to reminisce about their own childhood “running man” daydreams after seeing the video.
“When [I] was a kid in a car on a long journey, [I’d] look out the window & imagine a ‘daredevil?’ figure running along the roofs of houses & jumping the gaps,” @PMoore21 replied to the video.

“I once did this with a hot wheels car on a train. I didn’t realize the window was open though, so it fell out and I never saw it again,” @Klink180 meanwhile recalled an unfortunate memory.

One @AndyBeckerman talked about how he imagined superheroes, saying: “When I was a kid on long car trips, I would imagine either the Silver Surfer or Gambit having to traverse the landscape beside the car as we drove.”

Maybe even adults can learn from this kid and encourage some to relive their childhood daydreams. Hey, it may even make traveling — whether through public transport or otherwise — not as boring as adults deem it to be. NVG
