IN PHOTOS: Henry Cavill thrills Pinoy fans in ‘The Witcher’ fan meeting

When news of Henry Cavill‘s arrival in the Philippines hit news sites, many fans were left in a frenzy. A lot of them couldn’t believe that the Man of Steel actor was, in fact, coming to Manila to promote his newest Netflix show, The Witcher. So, when December 12 came, a number of these fans gathered at the Ayala Malls Manila Bay activity center for a chance to see Henry Cavill himself–and many of them were not disappointed!

The day began with a short press conference between members of the media and The Witcher showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and British actor Henry Cavill. During this media event, both Hissrich and Cavill shared details on the filming and preparation of The Witcher.

One particular topic Cavill discussed during this press conference was how he trained for his role. He told the press that he had a trainer during this whole process, as he was set to do the fighting scenes without a stunt double.

Hissrich also shared that she enjoyed working with Cavill on the series as he takes on the role very seriously.

Later in the afternoon, Henry Cavill arrived at the fan meeting and eagerly signed posters and took selfies with many of his Filipino fans. He autographed a number of different items during his arrival, as some fans brought The Witcher and Superman memorabilia and fan art for the actor to sign.

Throughout this time, Cavill smiled and interacted with fans as they cheered and called out his name.

Once onstage, Filipino host Matteo Guidicelli thanked the British actor for his patience in signing (almost) every single item the fans reached out to him. In reply, the actor said that he should be thanking the fans since he knew some of them arrived at the venue early just to see him in person.

Cavill then proceeded to answer some of Guidicelli’s questions. One of which was how he felt when he first heard about being cast in The Witcher series as Geralt of Rivia. Cavill responds that he was a big “PC gamer” and an avid fan of the fantasy genre, so getting to play this particular character was fulfilling.

After answering a few more questions from Guidicelli, Cavill then invited Filipinos to tune into Netflix on December 20 for the premiere of The Witcher.

As the fan event came to a close, invited guests and members of the media were asked to proceed to the cinema to watch the first episode of The Witcher series. However, before the episode streamed, both Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and Henry Cavill went onstage and gave a few words to those in attendance.

The showrunner and The Witcher star said that there was a whole team behind them who made this possible but not all of them could make the trip. So, they hope that the Filipinos will enjoy their finished product.
