Established in 1963, the UPVI Los Baños Chapter is part of the UP Vanguard Incorporated, the national organization composed of Advance ROTC graduates from the University of the Philippines. In its 55 years of existence, the alumni organization has molded well-rounded individuals who went on to become well-known professionals in their respective fields. The organization takes pride in its alumni and aims to produce more competent leaders who are committed in serving the country.
One of the goals of the organization is to hold various activities that seek to maintain its prestige and contribute to the development of the community. In order to fulfill this goal, the UP Vanguard, Inc. – Los Baños Chapter in partnership with Run Mania Philippines Promotions Co. and in cooperation with the UPLB Office of Alumni Relations will organize a fun run in support of the UPLB Loyalty Day Centennial Celebration. Moreover, a Testimonial Parade and HUMANAY! Balik Barracks 2018 will be conducted as well.
UPLB Loyalty Day Run
The UPLB Loyalty Day Run entitled “Takbo Para sa Katapatan” (TAPAK) aims to commemorate the heroism of the 220 able-bodied UP students and faculty members who, on 10 October 1918, volunteered to serve in the Philippine National Guards as part of the Allied Forces during the World War 1. It is a call to all UPLB Alumni and other constituents to respond to the country’s needs and become an active crusader in the battles that beset our beloved country today.
The fun run will be held on 06 October 2018, 4 o’clock in the morning at the UPLB Grandstand.
Testimonial Parade
In partnership with the Department of Military Science and Tactics and the UPLB Corps of Cadets, a Testimonial Parade will be conducted in honor of the UPVI Los Baños Chapter’s members who went on to become successful in their military careers. The event will be graced with the presence of one of its notable members, BGEN PEALE JON L BONDOC AFP, as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.
The Testimonial Parade will be held on 06 October 2018, three o’clock in the afternoon at the UPLB Parade Grounds.
HUMANAY! Balik Barracks 2018
Balik Barracks is an annual homecoming activity spearheaded by the organization since 1980. With the theme, “HUMANAY,” the activity aims to provide an avenue for its members to build rapport among each other and reminisce the time from when they were cadet officers.
HUMANAY! Balik Barracks 2018 will be held on 06 October 2018, 6 o’clock in the evening at the DMST Complex.
With three major activities to be held in one day, it is definitely going to be a long day for UPLB Vanguards.
