Tower of Power showed Filipino fans the ‘Soul Side of Town’

Tower of Power is celebrating their 50th anniversary and as part of their celebratory tour, the California-based horn section and band from Oakland, California, visited Manila for a one-night concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Definitely a #throwback party to all, T.O.P started the night with their hit songs like “We Came To Play,” “Soul with a Capital S,” and “You Ought to be Having Fun” to name a few.

The crowd stood up from their seats when the group started singing “On the Soul Side of Town,” “This Time It’s Real,” “You’re Still A Young Man,” and “Sparkling in the Sand.”

Towards the end of the concert, the crowd even got more excited as T.O.P sang “Squib Cakes” and “Diggin’ On James Brown.”

The group was also accompanied by Hawaiian group Kalapana and of course, Dennis Lambert — whose performances both made the crowd kilig and reminiscent of the good ol’ days.

Kalapana is known for their distinctive music style — a combination of pop and soft rock music.

While American musician, Dennis Lambert, serenaded the audience with one of his hit songs called “Of All The Things.”

It has been 50 years since the band started but the Filipino fans’ love and support are absolutely unwavering.

This only proves that Filipinos have great taste in music.
