NJZ halts activities following court’s grant to ADOR’s injunction suit

Following their legal battle with music label ADOR, members of NewJeans are now subject to the court’s ruling in favor of the company’s injunction suit against them, which includes a prohibition on carrying out independent activities under their rebrand as NJZ.

While the girl group is to be on a temporary hiatus, they announced that they would appeal the decision, and push through with their ComplexCon performance in Hong Kong as scheduled, where they premiered their new song “Pit Stop” last March 23. They took the time to read a statement on stage to give notice to their fans on the ongoing situation.

In English, they read, “Out of respect for the court’s decision, we’ve decided to pause all our activities for now,” adding, “this might be our last performance for a little while,” closing, “that doesn’t mean we’re going to give up… it’s just us taking a step back to pause.”

As per Soompi, the full statement goes as follows:

In light of their performance, ADOR announced that they were in support of NewJeans as their agency, and would send staff to Hong Kong to provide the talents “full on-site support.”

Despite the “NJZ” official Instagram page having disabled users from commenting for the time being, the “New Jeans” account has their comments open for fans to share their opinions on the girls’ state of affairs. A notable amount of them wound up to be sentiments on allowing the girls their freedom to produce their own music after the accusations made against the label, defending the band from negative texts that have seemingly shunned their alleged experiences of mistreatment from the company.

Social media users have also pointed out that ADOR’s consistent photo uploads on the girls’ former Instagram page were questionable, given their very public legal case, and left comments poking fun at their consistent endorsement of the members despite knowing that they want completely out of their hold.

Just last March 24, ADOR continued with another statement speaking on NJZ’s performance in Hong Kong, despite voicing that they sent staff to them for full support. Translated by Soompi, their statement read:

The acknowledgment of the contract dispute was made last March 21 at the Seoul Central District Court, but the main trial for an official ruling is set out to begin on April 3.
