Harris County court records show that a Houston embalmer turned himself in after reportedly chopping off a deceased man’s penis and placing it in his mouth upon discovering that the man was a registered sex offender.
In the wake of the alleged event on February 7 at Memorial Mortuary, owned by Claire Brothers Funeral Home, Amber Laudermilk has been charged with felony abuse of corpse.
Records reveal that Laudermilk, a licensed Texas embalmer, threatened other staff members to keep quiet after allegedly disfiguring the body.
When Laudermilk turned herself in, the court issued a $5000 (Php 286,687) bond. Constable Rosen’s Office looked into the incident, which occurred at Memorial Mortuary and Crematory on Pine Street, according to the documents, following a phone call between the funeral director in charge and the family of Charles Roy Rodriguez.
Investigators found that Rodriguez had been charged with sexual assault and placed on deferred adjudication following his encounter with a lady at a bar. Moreover, he had to register as a sex offender.
According to the documents, they talked about dividing Rodriguez’s remains between his daughter from a prior marriage and his current spouse. The family member also mentioned that Rodriguez was a registered sex offender.
Per court documents, shortly after that phone call, an employee reported seeing Laudermilk cut Rodriguez’s penis in half and shoved it into his mouth.
In response to KPRC 2, Memorial Mortuary and Crematory stated that Laudermilk is no longer employed, but they would not elaborate, citing a personnel issue and a pending legal action.
Memorial Mortuary released a statement, mentioning that the staff members will be educated.
“To confirm what has been already reported, this individual concealed her unlawful actions from the owners and managers. We reported this incident to the authorities as soon as we found out,” they stated. “Memorial Mortuary will conduct continuing education for all its employees this week. Now it’s a matter between law enforcement and the former employee.”
