7 reasons that make Sister Act a must-see musical

The hit broadway musical Sister Act is here in the Philippines, and it is one show you shouldn’t miss!

It tells the story of Deloris Van Cartier, a wannabe disco diva, whose life takes a surprising turn when, after witnessing a murder, she was put into protective custody in the one place the police are sure she won’t be found – a convent.

Here are all the reasons why you should catch the show at The Theatre at Solaire:

1. It’s a feel-good comedy that’ll have you laughing right up to the finale.

The hilarity of the Sister Act film is one of the things that made it so endearing, and that humor is every bit a part of this musical. Right from the beginning, Deloris’s sass and can-do attitude will crack you up. It’s also very fun to watch how the nuns, especially the Mother Superior, adapted to the arrival of Deloris in their quiet and pious lives.

2. It features a fantastically talented cast.

The cast of the musical will have you clapping in awe after every song and cheering at their funny antics on stage. The lead role of the musical is brought to life by Dené Hill, an award winning international opera singer.

3. The story teaches the importance of family and friendship.

The story of how Deloris found a family in the most unlikely place is very heartwarming. Deloris left an impact on the lives of the nuns she became friends with, but they too have affected her and made her realize that fame and success are not the most important things in life.

4. You’ll hear a set of great songs that are not in the movie.

Even though the songs from the film are iconic, it’s a welcome surprise for most viewers when they find out that the musical features a whole set of different songs composed by 8-time Oscar winner Alan Menken who has written music for classics like Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid.

5. The set design and costumes are stunning.

The glitzy glamor of the costumes and the set design is truly something to behold. Viewers are going to love how the nun’s habits and the convent — including the statue of Mary — transform during the show.

6. It’s a Broadway experience you won’t forget.

It’s a show that originated from Broadway. Need we say more? Whether you’re a theater geek with the technical know-how or just an enthusiast of musicals, you’ll surely appreciate the amazing performances that is characteristic of Broadway shows.

7. They’re only here until July 9, so don’t miss it!

Sister Act Manila is part of the 2017 Asian tour of the show, and they will only be here in the country for two weeks with no extension. The musical will run at The Theatre at Solaire until July 9, so make sure you see it before they leave! For tickets, you can call TICKETWORLD at 8919999.

Sister Act is Ovation Productions’ second Broadway musical presentation, the first being Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at the Cultural Center of the Philippines two years ago.
