Fans meet new creepy character in ‘Squid Game’ Season 3 teaser

After the premiere of the second season of the hit Korean series, fans were indulged with the release of the first teaser for Season 3 which features a creepy new character.

“Everyone say hi to Chul-su,” the streaming site shared in the teaser. “Squid Game 3 coming 2025.”

In the 15-second video, three new players wearing numbered tracksuits enter an arena with Young-hee’s enormous “Red Light, Green Light” doll facing the opposite direction. A guy doll appears on the other side of the tracks, staring back at her after she had shown her face at a railroad crossing.

Squid Game Season 2, which consists of seven episodes and premiered on December 26, received 68 million views in its first three days on the streaming service. In 92 countries, it topped the weekly non-English TV list. This makes it the best performing title overall as well as the most-watched series of the week.

The story revolves around hundreds of struggling individuals as they compete in lethal games for a life-altering amount of money and their lives. It celebrates Lee Jung-jae’s comeback as Seong Gi-hun/Player 456, who aims to sneak into the games and stop them permanently.

In behind-the-scenes of the dolls on YouTube, it has been revealed that both Young-hee and Chul-su are regularly recurring fictional children in Korean education texts that are “similar to the American versions of Dick and Jane or Jack and Jill.”

The dolls “were used to teach Korean kids about morals, good behaviors and to learn how to read and write.”

The creators of the show confirmed a third season was in development long before the release of season two. Although the official release date has not been announced, the show’s creator Hwang Dong-hyu told Variety, “At this point, anything I might say is going to be a spoiler so I want to be cautious.”

“But what I can say is, after season two launches, I believe we will be announcing the launch date for season three soon. I probably expect that to launch around summer or fall,” he added.
