A Facebook post appears to have captured everyone’s attention in relation to the song “APT” being used in Zumba classes.
The text on the photo posted by a user on Facebook reads, “Alam mong overplayed at baduxy na yung kanta kapag ginagamit na pangzumba ng matatanda [you know the song used is overplayed and lame when it is used during Zumba by elders].”
People then took to the comments section to share their thoughts upon seeing the said post.
One user wrote, “Music is meant to be enjoyed. Kung di mo na-enjoy yung music, valid na di mo pakinggan, but don’t stop other people from enjoying it. Hindi naman yan bubblegum na, porke madami nang nakikinig, parang nginuya na ng iba para pandirian [If you haven’t enjoyed the music, it’s valid that you don’t listen to it, but don’t stop other people from enjoying it. That’s not bubblegum, just because there are many listening, it seems like other people have chewed it up to be disgusted]. If it’s a bop, let it be a bop. Let the fad fade by itself—why be salty about it, di ba [right]? Hindi naman yan habang buhay magri-ring sa mga tenga nyo. Bakit lagi tayong uhaw maging iba [That will not ring in your ears forever. Why are we always thirsty to be different]? HAHAHA.”
Another user wrote, “Let others enjoy the things they truly love and have fun with their time.”
A third user wrote, “Realtalk: As if you didn’t enjoy the song when it first came out lol no song becomes ‘baduy’ [lame] overtime. Either it’s a hit or it’s baduy [lame] from the get-go. Mga clout chasers and pacool lang kasi kayo, kinukuha ang personality sa kung ano ang uso [You’re clout chasers and acting like you’re cool, taking your personality from what’s in]. Trying so hard to be “different” doesn’t give what you think it does.”
While some view it as a sign of overexposure or “lame” when a popular song becomes widely used, others simply enjoy the music without concern for its perceived status. Ultimately, the enjoyment of music is a personal experience, and it’s important to let people embrace what they love, regardless of others’ opinions.
But then, if a song is good, why gatekeep it?
