The 76th Primetime Emmy Awards took place on September 15, 2024, and celebrated the best in American prime-time television programming.
Shōgun dominated the Emmys with 18 awards, a record for a drama series in a single season, including Outstanding Drama Series, and its leads Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai bagged Outstanding Lead Actor and Actress in A Drama Series.

Anna Sawai accepted her award with a standing ovation from the audience. She makes history as the first Asian performer, and this marks also her first-ever nomination and win.
She delivered a speech thanking her co-actors and mother for inspiring her performance as Mariko, and she also expressed her gratitude for her co-star and show producer Hiroyuki for continuing “to open doors for people like me.”
Sawai dedicated her award “to all who the women expect nothing and continue to be an example for everyone.”
The Bear took home 11 wins, with Jeremy Allen White Outstanding bagged Lead Actor In A Comedy Series for the 2nd consecutive year.
Baby Reindeer with 6 wins, including Outstanding Limited Or Anthology Series, and creator, writer and star Richard Gadd claimed Outstanding Lead Actor In A Limited Or Anthology Series Or Movie.

Gadd delivered a heartfelt speech, “Look, 10 years ago I was down and out, right? I never ever thought I’d get my life together,” he said. “And then here I am, just over a decade later, picking up one of the biggest writing awards in television. I don’t mean that to sound arrogant, I mean that as encouragement to anyone who’s going through a difficult time right now, to persevere.”
Hacks won Outstanding Comedy Series, which delightedly stuns Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello and Jen Statsky, the producers of the show.
“We really feel like [comedy] can bridge divides when you laugh with someone, you have something in common with them,” Aniello said. “So please support comedy, it speaks truth to power. Support your local comedian

Father and son duo, Eugene and Dan Levy were the main hosts of the evening, and among the many presenters were Nicola Coughlan, Nava Mau, Selena Gomez, and Jimmy Kimmel.
