The world lost another legend as the voice behind ‘Darth Vader’ and ‘Mufasa,’ James Earl Jones, passed away.
His representatives confirmed the death of the legendary actor with Deadline. Jones, aged 93, died at his home in New York last September 9.
Aside from being featured in The Lion King and Star Wars, Jones starred in Coming to America, Conan the Barbarian, and Field of Dreams.
A well-known actor both stage and film, he is one of the few actors to have received the EGOT status.
This entails the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony awards that he won over his remarkable career.
In spite of everything, Jones’ most well-known role was that of a lead voice actor in two of the biggest box office hits of all time.
Regardless of the character he portrayed, the late 93-year-old’s voice was emotive and expressive, as it was for both Darth Vader and Mufasa.
Fans and fellow actors have already started pouring in their tributes on social media.
One fan wrote, “Rest in peace, James Earl Jones. One of the most powerful, evocative, emotional voices in cinema history. This is the first scene that came to mind, it’s one of my favorites of all time.”
“RIP James Earl Jones. The world has lost a treasure,” as written by another user.
A third user wrote, “A true wonder who gave us memorable cinematic moments that we will never forget, thank you James Earl Jones for bringing us your unforgettable talents. #RIPJamesEarlJones”.
Levar Burton tweeted, “James Earl Jones… there will never be another of this particular combination of graces.”
Fellow Star Wars actor Mark Hamill, who played Jones’ son Luke Skywalker, quoted a tweet with the news saying, “RIP Dad”, with a broken heart emoji.
Absolutely gutted to hear of the death of James Earl Jones (93) yesterday.
Such a class act. Specially loved his performance as troubled author Terence Mann in ‘Field of Dreams’ & Barney Hill in The UFO Incident. He was of course the voice of Darth Vader & Mufasa.
