Matthew Perry’s heartbreaking last words before ketamine overdose

Nearly a year after the tragic passing of Matthew Perry, new court documents have revealed the actor’s chilling final words. The beloved ‘Friends’ star, who struggled publicly with addiction, died from a ketamine overdose on October 28, 2023, at the age of 54. As fans continue to mourn, the details of his final moments are both shocking and heart-wrenching.

Matthew Perry’s personal assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, has come under intense scrutiny after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute ketamine resulting in death. According to the plea agreement, Iwamasa injected Perry with three doses of ketamine in the hours leading up to his death, with the actor reportedly requesting, “shoot me up with a big one” before the fatal dose.

These were Perry’s final words, and they paint a tragic picture of a man in the throes of addiction. Prosecutors have revealed that Perry’s ketamine dependence had spiraled out of control in the months before his death, with the actor reportedly injecting the powerful anesthetic six to eight times a day.

Dr. Salvador Plasencia, who supplied the drug, is also facing charges. Despite being aware that Perry was “too far gone,” Plasencia allegedly continued to provide ketamine through Iwamasa. Disturbingly, in text messages with another physician, Dr. Mark Chavez, Plasencia discussed how much to charge Perry for the ketamine, callously stating, “I wonder how much this moron will pay.”

The other defendants charged in connection to Perry’s death include alleged drug dealer Jasveen Sangha, and physicians Dr. Mark Chavez and Dr. Salvador Plasencia. A fifth defendant, Erik Fleming, reportedly obtained 50 vials of ketamine from Sangha and provided them to Iwamasa. Sangha could face a life sentence if found guilty, while the remaining defendants face sentences of up to 10-25 years.

On the day of his death, Perry had received enough ketamine to equate to doses used for general anesthesia during surgery, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office. Perry was found face down in the heated end of his pool after Iwamasa returned from running errands.

Matthew Perry’s stepfather, Keith Morrison, shared that although the family remains heartbroken by the actor’s death, they take some comfort in knowing that law enforcement has approached the case with the seriousness it warrants.

“We look forward to justice being served,” Morrison said, expressing their hope for a just outcome.
