Shannen Doherty reportedly leaves a list of people she doesn’t want to attend her funeral

Before her death, actress Shannen Doherty reportedly made plans regarding her funeral, which included a list of people she wouldn’t want to attend.

Following previous disagreements with her former co-stars Alyssa Milano and Jennie Garth, sources close to the planning have disclosed that they will not be invited to the service.

She spoke about her funeral plans and burial arrangements on her podcast “Let’s Be Clear,” where she frequently opened up about her health journey and hopes for the future.

“There’s a lot of people that I think would show up that I don’t want there. I don’t want them there because their reasons for showing up aren’t necessarily the best reasons,” she stated.

She added, “Like, they don’t really like me and, you know, they have their reasons, and good for them, but they don’t actually really like me enough to show up to my funeral.”

Doherty claimed that there would be some people who only go to her funeral because they feel like they have to, feeling the “pressure” not to “look bad.”
“[They’ll show up] because it’s the politically correct thing to do, and they don’t want to look bad, so I kinda want to take the pressure off them and I want my funeral to be like a love fest. I don’t want people to privately be like, ‘Thank God that b—- is dead now,’” she continued.

The actress’s publicist, Leslie Sloane, confirmed the news of her passing last July 14 with People.

Her statement read, “It is with heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease. The devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie. The family asks for their privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace.”

Doherty is known for her roles in “Beverly Hills 90210” and “Charmed.”  The actress faced her first battle with breast cancer in 2015, undergoing a mastectomy and rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. She was in remission by 2017.

In February 2020, she revealed that the disease had made its return, with it now spreading to her spine. Since then, her cancer has reached her brain, which led her to have intense radiation treatments and surgery.
