Adele reveals plans to take a break from music after her ‘Las Vegas Residency’

British singer-songwriter Adele has revealed that she is taking a break from music to explore new creative pursuits.

In an interview with German TV company ZDF, she stated, “I don’t have any plans for new music at all. I want a big break after this [Las Vegas Residency] and I think I want to do other creative things just for a little while.”

“Weekends with Adele” is a captivating concert residency by Adele, held at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The series showcases her powerful vocals and emotive performances, featuring hits from her extensive catalog and offering fans an intimate, unforgettable musical experience. Adele’s Las Vegas residency, started in October last year and is scheduled to end on November 23, 2024.

Fans of the singer took to social media to express their shock at the singer’s recent news.

One user wrote, “we weren’t expecting music for like a decade but damn this still stings”.

Another user wrote, “she was already taking a 6 year break between her albums so just how long will this one be???”

A third user wrote, “So no album?… Or atleast a song… But, i will support her decision.”

“She doesn’t even release music often. So why break? We need sad songs to make our already miserable life sadder. 😔😔😔😔😔😔,” as written by a fourth user.

In the same interview, she also said that what she missed the most before she was famous was “probably being anonymous.”

“I don’t like being famous. I love that I get to make music all the time, whenever I want to. I mean people are receptive to it and like it. That’s pretty unimaginable and highly unlikely that happens to people,” she further stated.

Adele has sold millions of albums worldwide and is well known for her songs such as “Rolling in the Deep,” “Someone Like You,” and “Hello” to name a few.

After graduating from a performing arts school near London, she attained multiple achievements in her career as the singer signed a record deal when she was only 18 years old.

Adele won at the 2009 Grammy Awards for Best New Artist with her debut album, 19.
