KISS OF LIFE’s newest single ‘Sticky’ ushers in the summer season

“How long before we fall in love?”

KISS OF LIFE hasn’t missed at all since their debut, having been dubbed as one of K-Pop’s newest “hot girls on the block.” Now, they’ve just come full circle by securing their spot as this year’s “Summer Queens.”

On July 1, 2024, at 12 M.N. KST KISS OF LIFE returned with new music with their digital single, ‘Sticky.’ This comes less than 3 months since their last single album and their most successful release to date, ‘Midas Touch.’ The release is also KISS OF LIFE’s first venture into a more mainstream sound—with the song being more afrobeat and of Latin sounds.

KISS OF LIFE had always been known for their strong, retro-inspired, and empowered tracks and concepts, as seen from their previous lead singles ‘Shh,’ ‘Bad News,’ and ‘Midas Touch.’ The girls have also gained a passionate following on social media, and their “graduation” from “nugudom” after their release of ‘Midas Touch’ was celebrated well.

The quartet talked about their newest comeback in an interview with the Korea JoongAng Daily, where they said that “hot girls can also pull off a refreshing concept.” Julie, KISS OF LIFE’s designated leader said, “Refreshing concepts are usually associated with being pure and innocent, but they don’t have to be like that. Our refreshing concept is about us being brighter and happy.”

KISS OF LIFE also talked about how this album was their “most comfortable” one. “With our previous releases,” member Natty began. “We’ve been trying to immerse ourselves in a character, and, for example, think of what kind of rascal we can be. This time, we just told ourselves to do whatever we want because it’s a song that we can just enjoy.”

KISS OF LIFE’s Belle also explained the meaning behind their title track, ‘Sticky.’ “Even when you dance in a refreshing summer environment, you will end up being sticky if you are enthusiastic about it, and that’s the one side of ‘Sticky’ that we’re trying to say.” She continued that it could mean other things too—like a “sticky love you can have in the summer,” or “the sticky sweat” or the “ice cream that melted.” For Belle, ‘Sticky’ also talks about their [the four members] “warm vibe.”

Part of KISS OF LIFE’s newest single album is the B-side ‘Te Quiero,’ an all-English track that member Belle had participated in.

The music video for ‘Sticky’ sees the KISS OF LIFE members in a park and movie theater in Poland, where the production team had edited it to look like a one-shot video. The highlight of the music video, in particular, was the girl group’s strong and upbeat choreography.

KISSYs, the girl group’s fandom, were ecstatic to see KISS OF LIFE’s exuberant and lively comeback. They also cheered with how the girl group stuck to their “hot girl” concept, bodied it so well, and applauded their rise on the charts.

Yes Queens! Keep slaying, mamas!
