OPM band SunKissed Lola jokingly changes the name of their hit song “Pasilyo” following the singer IU’s viral cover of their track.
Last June 1, Korean singer-songwriter and actress IU held her concert at the Philippine Arena for her “H.E.R.E.H” world tour. During the concert, she surprised fans with her own rendition of the rock band’s hit song.
Upon seeing the viral cover online and recovering from their initial shock that the Korean superstar knew their song, they have recently posted several times on X (formerly Twitter), jokingly suggesting they will change their song in honor of IU’s performance.
One of their posts wrote, “okay mareng IU Pashilyo na ang title [okay IU, my friend, Pashilyo is the new title.]”
In another post, they wrote, “si Mareng IU ang masusunod [We will follow what our friend IU sayid.]” The said post was accompanied by a photo changing the name of the song from “Pasilyo” to “Pashilyo” and as they said in the post, IU is in charge.
Social media users took to social media to express their thoughts about the said move by the band.
Some social media users even had to do a double take and check the streaming platform if they had really changed it according to their post but it was clearly edited as their song is still officially titled “Pasilyo” on Spotify.
SunKissed Lola started back in 2021 in Olongapo City and rose to fame through their song “Pasilyo.” The members of the band include Dan Ombao, Alvin Serito, Laura Lacbain, Danj Quimson, Genson Viloria, and Rodnie Resos.
IU made her debut back in 2008 with her song “Lost Child”. Since then she has become one of the most influential solo artists in Korea. She then dabbled into acting in 2011 and is best known for her roles in “Hotel Del Luna” and “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo” just to name a few.
