If you haven’t found anything or anyone giving you ‘that feeling’ yet, let Lauv, Alexander 23 and Jeremy Zucker, also known as ‘The Girls,’ ease your mind on a rainy day with their latest single song collaboration, Cozy, that was released on May 22.
In a recently concluded Southeast Asian Virtual Hangout last June 11 hosted by Universal Music Group, 2/3 of The Girls sat down in a quick interview with the media while Lauv took his much-needed vocal rests after his amazing shows and successful tours across Asia. To tell more about their newly debuted group, Alexander 23 and Jeremy will take us through their music journey after their first live performance of Cozy at the Seoul Jazz Music Fest earlier this month, which Alexander 23 described as an ‘electric performance’.

From Solos to Trios and Their Group Name
Randomly naming their group ‘The Girls’, Alexander 23 shared that it was unexpected and that they didn’t anticipate that people would call them by that group name. At first, it pretty much started as a random TikTok email registration account, which, in his own words, “blossomed into an organic thing, but I think we’re rocking with it.”
Fans of the three have noticed the facial similarities between the three of them. In a joking manner, Alexander 23 responded, “Should have been the triplets instead of the girls? Yes! ”He confirmed that even before he started his own music, people used to tell him that he looked like both Lauv and Jeremy.
Working together and the making of Cozy
Way before the trio worked together as a group, they’d known and worked with each other separately for their music crafts. The two of them shared that working with each other was kind of easy when they worked on their recordings and creative songwriting process in the studio; it felt super natural and fun, given their great chemistry together as a group and their musical inclinations that kind of worked together naturally.
The creative process all started when they casually hung out for a long time, playing music together while chilling and having a random talk about life. Alexander 23 threw in an idea for a song while Jeremy was playing the guitar. The three of them, along with Lauv, started singing together.
Wondering what was the coziest thing about The Girls having to work on a song collaboration as a group? The music video. “We got to have a pillow fight; we got to all sit on the couch together and eat some popcorn. We got to get in our pajamas all together,” Jeremy added. Another fun fact is that Alexander 23 just forgot that they were shooting an actual music video and really thought they were just having a sleepover together. “So for a year, an entire year. Before that, we shot the video every single night. We kind of sleep in the same bed to kind of get mentally prepared,” he concluded.

During the virtual interview while in Manila, the singer expressed his fondness for the Philippines, mentioning how he enjoyed trying some of his favorite local Filipino dishes such as Sisig, Gising-Gising, and an Ube smoothie, which he particularly liked.
