Queer passenger allegedly abused by family, asks for help online after ride-hailing incident goes viral

Kim Ezekiel, a queer passenger who encountered what seems to be a universal experience for members of LGBTQIA+, posted an update following the incident with a rider from a booking application.

The update was posted on Kim’s official TikTok account and apparently, their family did not take the virality of their video in good light. According to OP, they were physically harmed and threatened to be killed by their own father.

Many of Kim’s followers and viewers expressed their support and helped them gain a wider audience by commenting “boosts” to make their video more relevant on the users For You Page (FYP).

On X (formerly known as Twitter), a user tweeted about Kim’s current situation and asked their followers to retweet.

A user expressed their opinion on the matter and wrote: “anong saysay mong magulang kung hindi mo mamahalin nang buong-buo, walang kumpirmiso, ang anak mo? [What is the meaning of being a parent if you do not love your child completely and unconditionally?

“Yakap kay kuya. nawalan man sya ng magulang, nagkaroon naman sya ng komunidad na pwede nyang sandalan— na mamahalin sya kahit sino man sya. [Hugs for you. They may have lost their parents, but she gained a community accepts them– and will love them for who they are] this is why PRIDE is important,” a user added.

My heart grieves. This is just too much. Pamilya dapat unang nakakaintindi at tatanggap, hindi ganito. [My heart grieves. This is just too much. Family is the first people who should understand and accept you, not like this],” another user responded.

Nakagagalit. imagine the pain of being ashamed, disowned, and, worst of all, physically abused by your own family, the very people who are supposed to love and support you unconditionally, after being ridiculed and discriminated against DURING PRIDE MONTH. this is so cruel. [This is maddening. Imagine the pain of being ashamed, disowned, and, worst of all, physically abused by your own family, the very people who are supposed to love and support you unconditionally, after being ridiculed and discriminated against DURING PRIDE MONTH. this is so cruel.]” a responder wrote.

The original author has been in contact with Kim and has been seeing them through. Although some users think that Kim was doing this for clout, the author confirmed that Kim was indeed abused but she refused to upload it because she cares for their family’s privacy. On the same thread, the author also wishes for people to be open-minded and supportive of Ezekiel’s condition.
