TWICE’s Dahyun reportedly set to make acting debut in upcoming film ‘Sprint’

JYP Entertainment has confirmed Dahyun’s appearance in the upcoming sports film entitled ‘Sprint.’

“She has been cast for the project, and she is preparing for filming,” the agency stated.

Dahyun, a vocalist and main rapper of the South Korean girl group TWICE, is set to make her first-ever acting debut in this sports film. The movie is directed by Lee Seung-hoon who also poured his ideas into movies ‘The King and the Clown’ in 2005 and ‘Run Away’ in 1995.

The film will depict Ha Seok-jin (as Kang Goo Young), who reached the pinnacle of his career by breaking the 100-meter run record in track and field. His character is inspired by the real-life athlete Kim Kuk Young, who, at the age of 37, won the bronze medal for the 400-meter relay for the first time. Lee Shin-young (as Seung Yeol), known for his role in Crash Landing On You, will portray a character who transitions from aspiring soccer player to sprinter.

As of today, Dahyun’s character has not yet been revealed to the public. According to South Korean reports, ‘Sprint’ will fall under the sports/drama genre and will feature characters ‘who pursue their impossible dreams tirelessly.’ Ultimately, the film will resonate with those who have faced multiple failures in their pursuit of their dreams but will soon understand that their setbacks in life hold value.

ONCE’s (TWICE’s fandom name), expressed their delight in learning this big-screen break for Dahyun.

Some users shared their joy, support, and excitement to see Dahyun act.

Dahyun’s participation in the upcoming movie also confirms that she will be the first-ever TWICE member to showcase her acting skills in a movie. Their group formed in the show ‘Sixteen’ back in 2015. The nine-women powered team has performed in sold-out stadiums including Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles and Ajinomoto Stadium in Tokyo.
