The boys of SEVENTEEN are the real ‘MAESTRO’ in latest comeback MV

SEVENTEEN is definitely right here, there’s no stopping them.

On April 29, 2024, SEVENTEEN released their best-of-album ’17 IS RIGHT HERE’ on all streaming platforms at 6 P.M. KST. The album comes a day after their “FOLLOW” Again to Seoul concert from April 27-28, 2024, and 6 months after their 11th EP, “Seventeenth Heaven.’

’17 IS RIGHT HERE’ is the group’s third compilation album to date, after ’17 Hits’ in 2016 and their Japanese language compilation album ‘Always Yours’ in 2023.

According to Pledis Entertainment, ’17 IS RIGHT HERE’ is meant to be a “celebration” of SEVENTEEN’s past, present, and future, with the inclusion of their title tracks since their debut, the Korean versions of their Japanese-language releases, and the addition of 4 new tracks.

’17 IS RIGHT HERE’ includes 4 new tracks—the title track ‘MAESTRO,’ the hip-hop unit’s track ‘LALALI,’ the performance unit’s track, ‘Spell,’ and the vocal unit’s track, ‘Cheers to youth.’

In their press conference held prior to the album’s release on the same day, SEVENTEEN discussed what they had in store with their best-of album. According to member Jeonghan, “The members wanted to make a best-of album with the best quality. Rather than just include SEVENTEEN’s songs until now, we wanted to capture what we want to achieve going forward and our future vision.”

Later in the conference, SEVENTEEN was asked if they had taken the opportunity to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) to create music. In the past week, SEVENTEEN’s use of AI in their ‘MAESTRO’ music video teasers had struck a chord among fans, but ultimately was interpreted as SEVENTEEN challenging AI with the question “Who is the real MAESTRO?”

In this regard, Woozi, the composer of almost all of SEVENTEEN’s songs, said that he had practiced using AI and explained, “Rather than feeling uncomfortable about developing tools, I feel like we should walk alongside them. I practiced a lot and tried to find its advantages. I ponder a lot how we can still keep our identity [amidst the developing technology].”

Ending their press conference, SEVENTEEN members Jun and The8 shared their hope that they would all be able to promote their new music in good health. DK also said, “We always receive great strength from CARATs. This promotion period, we will deliver strength to CARATs. We will take control of the music industry!”

‘MAESTRO,’ the group’s latest title track, is an R&B dance track with the title referring to a conductor or someone who is acknowledged in a certain field. SEVENTEEN proved themselves to be “maestros” in the K-Pop industry, especially with their organic growth and tireless grit.

CARATs applauded SEVENTEEN’s newest track and the overall message of their song, which combats the misuse of artificial intelligence.

SEVENTEEN really are in their own league. Who knows what they’ll release next, right?
