American fans urge Tekken director to include ‘Waffle House’ stage in Tekken 8

Katsuhiro Harada, the chief director of the longest-running video-game franchise Tekken, sought answers on X (formerly known as Twitter) why fans were requesting for “Waffle House” to be included in Tekken 8.

Some fans replied on the thread saying how Waffle House is known not just for its menu, but also as a common ‘fighting spot’ in America that’s regularly captured on viral videos. The place is said to be where many fist-fights take place and according to one user, even employees of the diner are ‘battle hardened.’ Another even side-noted the appearance of the ‘Waffle House Lady’ in the background of their requested stage.

Due to the diner’s nature of being open 24 hours for customers, travelers, patrons, and workers – needless to say, Waffle House can host anything possible! Therefore, American Tekken fans see it very fit as a fighting stage because of its unique cultural and historical phenomenon.

In the following tweet, Harada expressed his thanks for the hyped responses. Even though ‘Waffle House’ could be a potentially great fighting stage in Tekken 8, since the diner has its trademark and rights to itself, Harada explained that if the restaurant declines, the whole concept will not be given a breath of life.

Many called out the attention of ‘Waffle House’ to not sleep on this opportunity by tagging them in the reply section. While others provided insights on a possible alternative by, perhaps changing the name of the restaurant or creating a logo that can be used to reference the restaurant.

Tekken 8 is a continuation of the over-the-top storyline of the Mishima bloodline as Kazuya goes head-on to fulfill his global quest. In this new chapter, 32 fighters (both new and returning) will have such fantastic and next-generation visuals to give the players an interactive and empowered experience.
Aside from the newly added Arcade Quest mode, improved customization system for in-game and avatar characters, fans will witness the return of Raven who was last part of the story 15 years ago in Tekken 6, and Jun Kazama who will rejoin Tekken 8 after 25 years since Tekken 2. As a bonus, Azucena will be introduced as a new Peruvian character in the game.
