South Korean voice actor Lee Woo-ri passes away

We send our sincerest condolences to the bereaved family, friends, and colleagues.

Lee Woo-ri, a rising voice talent from Tooniverse, has died at the age of 24.

The tragic news was revealed by fellow voice actor Lee Dal-lae on March 15, 2024, who said that her young colleague had gone to sleep the day before.

Below is a translation of her statement from Soompi:

“[Lee Woo-ri’s] voice actors and the others who knew him are all having a hard time hiding our sorrow at the sudden and tragic news of his death. In accordance with the wishes of the bereaved family, I am sharing the final news of the departed with the fans who loved and cared for him…

To all the fans who love voice actor Lee Woo-ri and remember his acting, I ask that you pray together with us for my colleague Woo-ri to rest comfortably in eternal peace.”

Lee Woo-ri was the youngest male voice actor to have been accepted into CJ ENM’s Voice Actor Theater Association—debuting at the age of 21. In his 3-year career, he gave his voice to some popular animated shows such as “Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go”, “Case Closed”, “Crayon Shin-Chan”, and “The Haunted House”.

He was also the Korean dub for the “Genshin Impact” character Cyno and the “Cookie Run: Kingdom” character Lord Oyster.

Many fans shared their condolences for the departed Lee Woo-ri online, including the official Korean Genshin Impact page, and fellow voice actor Alejandro Saab, who was the English VA for Cyno.

May you rest in peace, Lee Woo-ri.
