Ahead of their headline performance at the Bobapalooza Music and Arts Festival, Pale Waves, the English Indie Pop band, discussed their expectations, experiences, and plans with the press at a media conference held at Crimson Hotel in Filinvest City on February 23.
Lead vocalist and guitarist Heather Baron-Gracie expressed excitement about performing in the Philippines for the first time, highlighting the warmth of Filipino fans. “You guys are so friendly, and so nice, which excites me to actually meet the people who like our music here. So, I’m expecting a really good show,” she shared.
The band also revealed their preference for touring over studio work, with Heather citing the thrill of connecting with fans live. Ciára Doran (drummer), Hugo Silvani (guitarist), and Charlie Woods (bassist) echoed her sentiments, highlighting the joy of live performances.
Addressing rumors about new music, Heather clarified that while there won’t be any new songs at the festival due to ongoing album recording, they would treat Filipino fans to a special gift.
“There are no new songs yet because we’re recording an album, but we’ll be playing a song we literally have not played for years,” she disclosed.
Following their performance, the band planned to return to the UK to focus on recording their upcoming album. However, they assured fans this wouldn’t mark their final visit to the Philippines.
Expressing their desire for future collaborations, the Manchester quartet expressed interest in working with fellow Bobapalooza headliners, The Band Camino, as well as London-based Filipino artist, No Rome.
Rolling Gum Chief Executive Officer Gayle Oblea hinted at the possibility of future events, teasing, “next time.”
