K-Drama fans rejoice as IU and Park Bo Gum pair up in new drama

Fans of K-dramas, unite! IU and Park Bo Gum are preparing for their next drama “When Life Gives You Tangerines” (working title), a new drama that will surely keep us up at night!

Already stirring excitement among audiences, the much-awaited drama series has been announced to air soon. Highlighting the skills of famous producer Kim Won-suk and writer Lim Sang-chun, the drama will feature South Korea’s soloist and actress IU and top star Park Bo Gum.

The series’ Korean title is written in Jeju dialect, which translates to “Thank You For Your Hard Work” or “You Have Done Well.” The show follows the narrative of two people born on Jeju Island in the 1950s and lived adventurous lives: Ae-Sun and Gwan-Sik.

IU who has an impressive filmography that includes “Hotel Del Luna,” “Broker,” “Dream,” and more, will be collaborating with director Kim Won Seok for the second time after “My Mister.” Her character, Ae Sun, was raised on Jeju Island and is a rebellious, driven, and independent woman who defies her fate.

On the other hand, Park Bo Gum, who made an impression on many films and television shows, such as the drama “Record of Youth,” the movie “Seo Bok,” and the musical “Let Me Fly,” will be playing Gwan Sik, a steadfast man who would rather express himself through actions than words. He is sincere towards his life and has only ever loved Ae Sun.

Meanwhile, Moon So Ri of “Three Sisters,” “Queenmaker,” and “Race” and Park Hae Joon of “My Mister,” “The World of the Married,” and “12.12: The Day” will play the older versions of Ae-sun and Gwan-sik, respectively, bringing depth to the narrative.

Of course, K-drama fans took to social media to express their excitement about the pairing of these two stars after so many years.

However, as excited as we are, no release date has been announced yet. So, let us all stay tuned for future updates on When Life Gives You Tangerines.
