Filipino rapper Loonie recounts his version of ‘traumatic ordeal with police’ in latest diss track

Filipino rapper-songwriter, Marlon Peroramas a.k.a Loonie surprised fans with his return with the 12-track album, “Meron Na” [There Already Is] which he released on Monday, December 18.

Among the tracks on the album, fans are particularly captivated by the longest one, ‘Tugmang Preso,’ delving into the details of Loonie’s real-life experience with police accusations of illegal drug use and selling high-end drugs, as well as his journey of imprisonment from September 2019 to January 2020.

The 6th track of the album delved into circumstantial storytelling of Loonie’s encounter with the police buy-bust operation in which he and 4 others were nabbed at a hotel in Poblacion, Makati on September 18, 2019. He bluntly elaborated through the rap song how the police allegedly planted marijuana found in his place, and how they were arrested at the hotel by the civilian authorities.

Moreover, in an interview during the party release of the album, Loonie described the phenomenon in 2019 as “dark” as his music career hit its downfall when people watched him on news affiliated to illegal drug use.

Loonie recounted a period of unexpected hardship, describing it as a dark and unforeseen chapter in his life. But as he looked back, he still perceived his experience with a plethora of “silverlinings.”

On December 17, when the album party release occurred, Loonie also conveyed that most of his tracks were done “on the spot in the studio, straight to the mic,” making his fresh album a huge difference from his previous albums.

The diss track, “Tugmang Preso,” gained positive reactions from hip-hop fans on various social media platforms as Loonie came back to astound his adherents.
