Tragedy strikes the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom as one of the series’ beloved characters gets eliminated

BRB, we’re still in denial. Huge spoilers ahead if you’re not into reading leaks.

The JJK fandom is currently experiencing collective depression as things begin to turn out for the worst in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga. A.K.A., the death of one of the series’ popular and beloved characters, Gojo Satoru.

This tragic revelation comes after leaks of the manga’s 236th chapter see Gojo Satoru defeated by Ryomen Sukuna on the chapter’s penultimate page. It also comes too soon since the character’s return into the manga’s pages, following over a thousand days of not being seen due to his character being trapped in the Prison Realm set up by antagonist Kenjaku.

Fans were in a state of absolute disarray and disbelief, as “The Strongest” Jujutsu sorcerer couldn’t have just been sliced in half and left to d-word. Others also found this development to be a turning point in the manga.

Just a week after leaks of the 236th chapter were…well leaked, the 237th chapter also brought the whole fandom to their knees. No, Gojo wasn’t miraculously resurrected by his reversed curse technique. Just something worse.

While it may be the debut of Sukuna’s true form, something’s definitely not right for Fushiguro Megumi, who had just hosted Sukuna’s soul after Itadori Yuji during the fight with Gojo Satoru.

Written by Gege Akutami (a pen name, not their actual name), Jujutsu Kaisen is an adventure, dark fantasy, and supernatural manga following the story of Itadori Yuji as he and other Jujutsu sorcerers venture to eliminate the “King of Curses,” Ryomen Sukuna, of whom he becomes the host of as he swallows one of the curse’s fingers.

It is a known fact in the fandom that Gege Akutami has expressed their dislike for Gojo Satoru in the past, and with the current events in the JJK manga happening, well, the hate has finally been translated well enough.

Also, it doesn’t help how this week’s anime sees Gojo Satoru being sealed in the Prison Realm. Nor does the past episode where the beloved character was seen to be distraught after seeing and hearing his best friend Geto Suguru being controlled by ancient curse user Kenjaku.
