D.O. yearns for ‘Somebody’ to love in his newest solo MV

“I want somebody who loves me, even the darkest depths of my mind.” – D.O.

Same, Kyungsoo. Same.

On September 18, 2023, SM Entertainment and EXO’s D.O. released the artist’s 2nd solo EP, “Expectation” on all streaming platforms, along with the music video for its title track, “Somebody.”

The album delves into the genres of folk-pop, pop, and acoustic, with 7 tracks highlighting D.O.’s warm vocal color and prowess. One of the EP’s songs, “별 떨어진다 (I Do)” was pre-released 10 days prior, on September 8, 2023, and was received warmly by fans and the general public. Another is an acoustic version of one of the tracks, “Lost.”

“Wonder” is a medium-tempo folk genre track with an upbeat rhythm and is a song about “the hope of writing a story by meeting a special person in one’s ordinary life.” Meanwhile, “Lost” is a more fast-paced, pop genre song with a distinct drum sound that expresses “the pain of having one’s expectations of love fall apart.” Moreover, “Ordinary Days” is a slow-tempo pop track placing focus on D.O.’s voice, with lyrics talking about the expectations for tomorrow and what one’s dreams are. “The View,” on the other hand, is an acoustic pop song with lyrics describing the feeling of missing a person.

The title track, “Somebody” is a folk-pop genre track highlighting D.O.’s mellow and sincere vocal tone, with lyrics filled with the hope of “meeting somebody who will accept ‘me’ as I am.” The MV also starred actress Lee Jae-in, who is known for her role in “Racket Boys.”

EXO-Ls were definitely caught falling in love with D.O. again, and honestly? Who wouldn’t be?

Congratulations for another successful EP, D.O.! This one was just…amazing.
