5 K-Dramas that convince us love gets sweeter the second time around

Second-chance romances are hopeful stories of rekindled love despite past bumps in the road. They are journeys of rediscovery and healing that teach us to accept and let go of past wounds and, in turn, look forward to re-written romances. Although difficult to grant, second chances are powerful opportunities to look beyond faults and redeem what was lost, and to prove that true love can withstand the test of time.

If you want to experience how love gets sweeter the second time around, here’s a rundown of five second-chance romance stories you can watch:

Go Back Couple

Couple Choi Ban Do and Ma Jin Joo were madly in love when they got married, but came to hate each other in their married life together. Choi Ban Do shouldered the role of being the breadwinner, while Ma Jin Joo was a miserable housewife. They are given a second chance at life and love when they are transported back in time and find themselves as 20-year-old university students, when they met for the first time.

Cunning Single Lady

Lee Min Jung and Joo Sang Wook are a divorced couple who pit against each other. Joo Sang Wook strives to become a successful and rich hotshot in the tech world, a redemption from his unpleasant experience with his ex-wife. Lee Min Jung, on the other hand, struggles to make ends meet. She does everything she can to win back in Joo Sang Wook’s favor.

Our Beloved Summer

This slow-burn romance story follows a pair of ex-lovers, Kook Yeon Soo and Choi Woong, who find their way back into each other in front of camera, several years after filming a viral high school documentary. Failing to resolve their extreme differences in the past, they are involved once again in each other’s lives, weighing the possibilities for another chance at love.

Emergency Couple

Medical practitioners Oh Jin Hee and Oh Chang Min found love amidst the latter’s family’s disapproval of their relationship. Divorce was an option for them, given how unhappy their lives became. One day, they are reunited, both as medical interns, facing the challenge of working with one another.

18 Again

With twenty years of marriage, Jung Da Jung and Hong Dae Young seem to be well settled in their lives as a couple and as parents to teenage twins. Domestic issues eventually mess with their ideal dispositions, leading to divorce. Having deep regret for the things that have gone wrong, Dae Young finds himself in the body of an 18-year-old, with his 37-year-old mind intact. With this, he takes his chance to rewrite his life, restoring not only his estranged marriage but also his family’s matters.
