Rebranding of Twitter brings out the most appropriate fandom to take hold of the X jokes

As everyone probably already knows, Elon Musk has made a couple of big changes to the face of Twitter. As of July 24, 2023, the iconic blue bird logo has been replaced with a new X logo that has some Twitter users, well, not happy with the change.

Other users have also turned to the obvious joke-making coping mechanism that the Internet (or Twitter, in general) is known for. However, there is this one specific fandom that’s suddenly come alive following the changes made to Twitter.

Again, as everyone may have already guessed, Elon Musk has a certain fixation on the letter ‘X’ which has been manifested a couple of times throughout his whole professional career. His first company, an online bank, was called ‘X.com,’ which later merged with a competitor software company and was renamed ‘PayPal.’

Other companies up in Musk’s sleeve with the letter X are SpaceX, an American spacecraft manufacturer, launch service provider, and satellite comms. company, X (previously Twitter), and xAi, an AI startup aiming to develop AI programs to compete with now existing programs like ChatGPT.

In the gaming world, one specific game character shares a similar love for the letter X like Elon Musk, and that is Kingdom Hearts’ Master Xehanort. In the Kingdom Hearts universe, this character is a powerful Keyblade Master, the main antagonist of the ‘Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep’ game, and the leader of the ‘Real Organization XIII.’

And as Twitter has now been rebranded as ‘X’, well, it just called up the Kingdom Hearts fandom to step up and “reorganize” themselves as members of Organization XIII.

For context, this ‘Real Organization XIII’, formerly organized as ‘Organization XIII’, is a group of 13 powerful Nobodies (people who lost their hearts to Darkness) who serve as vessels for the heart of Master Xehanort and to re-forge the X-blade (a legendary weapon) and open “Kingdom Hearts”—the “heart of everything” the ‘Kingdom Hearts’ universe and the great source of power that Xehanort seeks out for.

From the organization’s name itself, all of its members have the letter ‘X’ included in their names. Of course, with news of Twitter’s rebranding, the Kingdom Hearts fandom just had to have its moment in the spotlight.

Fans of the popular game franchise have all changed their bios, profile pictures, and names to match as members of Organization XIII.

Square Enix has the opportunity of making the most out of this Kingdom Hearts-coded moment.
