Hilarious memes flood the internet after Elon Musk rebrands ‘Twitter’ to just ‘X’

On October 27, 2022, American billionaire Elon Musk decided to acquire Twitter for $44 billion. Since then, there have been reforms on the social media platform such as making it a home for far-right pundits, making Twitter Blue subscription a thing to get verified easily, and implementing several layoffs of employees.

Just recently, his move was to have this tech war against Meta executive Mark Zuckerberg. At first, he challenged the Facebook founder to a cage match. After that, it went down (literally) to a penis-measuring contest. Meta’s only response to the said challenges was the birth of another social media platform, Threads, which became all the rage for like, a week.

Last Sunday, Musk informally unveiled plans to rename Twitter as ‘X’. Because of this abrupt rebranding, the world would also bid its goodbye to the famous bird logo.

Before the renaming goes to full fruition, let’s look at some of the quirkiest and funniest memes that the internet has cooked up to further roast this rebranding idea.

@sri_ashutosh08 uploaded an edited version of the Tony Stark Lakehouse funeral scene in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame wherein the Twitter logo is Tony Stark’s iconic arc reactor floating at the lake while the other avengers are the other social media platforms.

@TheHorizoneer brought us back to our childhood where he depicts both Twitter and X as Mickey’s House of Mouse and Mickey’s House of Villains in the Disney TV Movie special Mickey’s House of Villains.

@PrincessDaisyXP meanwhile, bid adieu to the Twitter logo as it goes to heaven in peace with the other defunct brands like Google Plus, Club Penguin, Playhouse Disney, and Windows XP.

In this meme, it looks like @KSUWABE is still in the stage of denial when he modified the Twitter bird logo as the letter ‘X’ in a bid to continue the tradition that the blue bird logo is always with the Twitter brand.

@KristenWixx finds it ironic that the Twitter brand would be renamed as the unimaginative, cliche Brand X. Below her tweet shows an image of the definition of the term ‘Brand X’ in the world of advertising.

And for those who are very kinky out there, @xArcz10x tweeted that the videos that would be uploaded on the platform would be called as ‘x videos’ – a close resemblance to the brand that every prepubescent and young adult men knows. Some users are making this meme a trend.

The bird has been with Twitter since its inception in 2008. The final design that we get to see every day was introduced way back in 2012.

“Soon we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds,” Musk wrote in a late-night Saturday post.

With its rebranding, the website domain would transition from twitter.com to x.com. According to a poll that he posted on the platform, 74.8% of users voted to use black as the default platform color of the website (as of this writing).
