From memes to ENHYPEN’s Jake vibing to the song: It indeed just keeps ‘Raining in Manila’

Over the past few days, the streets of Manila have been soaked from the consistent rainfalls. As witty as Filipinos have always been, several memes were instantly linked to the popular song, “Raining in Manila,” by Filipino indie band, Lola Amour. In fact, a Twitter thread of memes was even started.

Here are some of the tweets.

Imagine receiving a government-generated text vibing to the song.

But alright, there surely is something with the cold weather that just brings in the feels.

On the other hand, some humorously blame the song for not being able to do their chores.

And then, of course, the flood.

But among all the reactions we have been seeing all over the internet, our favorite has got to be from ENHYPEN member, Jake. ENHYPEN is among the famous South Korean groups today. They are known for their songs, “Drunk-Dazed,” and “FEVER.” Jake is one of the seven members of the group which also includes, Heeseung, Jay, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon, and Ni-Ki.

During Jake’s WeVerse live last July 14, he saw comments from fans, whom they call ENGENEs, mentioning the song. He shares that he thought the fans were only saying that it was raining in Manila. While he may not have understood what the song was about since it is in Filipino, he says he liked how it sounds.

“Oh, I like this. It’s vibing.”

The band sends their endless gratitude and appreciation to the ENGENEs as they surely made a huge impact on the song’s success. Aside from Jake, Jungwon has already listened to the song as well!

Perhaps, the rain may have actually helped pave the way for the song’s success. Talk about perfect timing!

Last July 11, “Raining in Manila,” debuted at #1 on Spotify’s PH Viral Songs chart. It also debuted at #11 on the global chart. Lola Amour celebrated the first month, July 14, of their chart-topping song as number 1. As of the writing, “Raining in Manila,” ranks second behind BTS Jung Kook’s, “Seven.”
