FIFTY FIFTY in the middle of controversy involving their agency, ATTRAKT, and Warner Music Korea

Popularized by TikTok for their song, “Cupid,” K-Pop rookie girl group, FIFTY FIFTY, is once again in the spotlight, this time, because of controversies stemming from allegations presented by their agency, ATTRAKT which involves Warner Music Korea.

FIFTY FIFTY’s renowned agency, ATTRAKT, has recently released an intriguing audio recording between their CEO Jun Hong Joon, and Executive Director Yun of Warner Music Korea. The audio recording claims to capture the intervention of an external force. In particular, ATTRAKT accuses Warner Music Korea of being the external force that allegedly tried to manipulate FIFTY FIFTY to violate their existing exclusive contract with their current agency in an attempt to snatch the artists.

You may listen to the recording here.

Despite the allegations, Warner Music Korea denies the claims. ATTRAKT, on the other hand, had already filed their charges.

The revelation sent shockwaves through the whole K-Pop industry that lead to intense scrutiny and investigation. Furthermore, as a result of the said issue, many K-Pop fans, particularly the fans of FIFTY FIFTY who call themselves, “Hunnies,” are left intrigued and concerned with the young girl group.

Having been placed in the middle of these controversies, FIFTY FIFTY made some crucial decisions. Last June 28, the group announced through their legal representative that they have filed for a provisional disposition to suspend their contract with ATTRAKT. The group claimed that this is because ATTRAKT violated their contract terms which resulted in, “the destruction of a relationship based on trust.” As of the writing, the trial is currently underway.

The controversy opened us to a bigger world of the K-Pop industry, captivating the attention of fans and non-fans, alike, and experts in the field. It gives us a glimpse into how these young stars are treated. As shared by FIFTY FIFTY’s legal representative, “The members raised issues about various circumstances in which ATTRAKT did not fulfill contractual obligations, such as non-transparent settlement and the unilateral attempt to enforce [scheduled activities] despite [the members] conveying their poor health conditions.”

In moving forward from this, may FIFTY FIFTY be able to get what they truly deserve. They may be young, but they have proven to have what it takes to make it big in the industry.
