Some people have put a religious spin on PH Swifties’ fan gathering event inside a mall

A Facebook user recently expressed his ‘what if’ about how fellow Filipino Christians worship, which has gone viral.

The user found himself pondering: What if believers would also engage in a form of ‘energetic worship’ for Jesus Christ in the future, similar to what he witnessed last weekend?

The witnessed event in question was none other than the successful Taylor Swift fan gathering that happened inside a mall.

“What if that kind of excitement a person not present in the venue gets would also be received by the Lord,[sic]” he wrote.

To be fair, he did not say anything negative about Swift or the fans that were at the event. But it is also somewhat indicative of the guilt-tripping that most devout religious people throw at other people or groups, or at large, non-religious gatherings.

Some have shared the same sentiment as him, while some said that people who commented negatively on the post missed the point.

On the other hand, some of his fellow Christians, who are also fans of the singer-songwriter, don’t agree with his sentiments and expressed their criticisms in the comment section.

One person in the comment section claims that the author of the post is somehow guilt-tripping the fans and treating admiration for Swift as a kind of mortal sin.

One account then joked, claiming that religious people like him should react to the event only if it were conducted in a place of worship.

Lastly, one account joked about Swift having the same story as the Lord.

Filo Swifties organized their own version of ‘The Eras Tour’ last weekend at a mall in Quezon City–a fan-gathering to show the power of their numbers, and also because there’s still no word if Taylor Swift’s tour will be coming to Asia.

Local drag queen, Taylor Sheesh, entertained the fans — lip-syncing Swift’s hits ‘You Need To Calm Down,’ ’22,’ ‘Love Story,’ ‘Willow,’ ‘Don’t Blame Me,’ etc.

Sheesh posted on Instagram about how grateful she was to be given a chance to perform as the singer-songwriter.

Sheesh’s performance was also a replica of the original Eras Tour as she changes the color of attire each time an era setting also changes.
