Revered American business magazine, Forbes, has recently released its list of honorees for the year, all of whom are under 30 years old and have provided positive changes and paved the way for innovation despite the economic uncertainties and challenges that the world faces.
The list recognized honorees from 10 different categories: entertainment and sports; finance and venture capital; enterprise technology; media, marketing, and advertising; industry, manufacturing, and energy; social impact; consumer technology; the arts; retail and e-commerce; and healthcare and science.
Seven Filipinos have brought pride to the Philippines as they are among the honorees on the list this year. The following are the outstanding Filipinos who made it to the “30 under 30 Asia” list of Forbes:
David Marquez
Under the retail and e-commerce category, there is David Marquez, who cofounded Shipmates. According to Forbes, he cofounded this delivery platform in August 2020–a time . It can be when people’s demand for courier services and e-commerce grew because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Marquez’s startup was chosen for Y Combinator’s summer cohort in 2022.
Isabel Sicat
Sicat was listed under the arts category. According to Forbes, she thought that there was a need for more fashion that was intended for island lifestyles. Sicat is the co-founder of Toqa, a company that transforms dead fabrics into sustainable high fashion. The 29-year-old co-founded this with Aiala Rickard.
Aaron Villegas
Villegas was recognized under the Finance and Venture Capital category of the list. He is the CEO of an app called Lista. This is a finance tracking app that provides help for people and small businesses in the country to manage their finances. The app allows users to plan their spending, set reminders for payments and debts, and track their expenses. This was established in 2021, and it was said that the app has over 1.6 million downloads.
Rui Aguiar, King Alandy Dy, Jeff Tan, and Jig Young
The four are recognized under the categories of industry, manufacturing, and energy. According too Forbes, Dy, who was a graduate of Standford and has a family with a background in cross-border shipping, started Expedock with Aguiar, Tan, and Young. The company says that various large corporations from different parts of the world use the services it provides, namely the logistics companies Ascent from Michigan, CEVA Logistics from France, and Jusda.
