Verified users can now upload 2-hour videos on Twitter, according to Elon Musk

Twitter owner and billionaire Elon Musk announced on May 19 that the Twitter blue subscribers can now upload 2-hour videos on the platform.

Verified subscribers in the account now post videos that are as large as 8GB. Twitter Blue is the social media platform’s paid subscription that gives users a blue checkmark and gives them additional features like editing tweets, fewer ads, prioritized ranking in search and conversations, longer tweets, and many more.

After learning about the improvement in the platform, some Twitter users expressed their excitement that they can now post and watch longer videos in the app.

The platform will now run similarly to other social media platforms like YouTube, a famous and widely used online video sharing platform, given the longer amount of time the users can upload and watch videos.
Some users find the new development an opportunity, especially for people who want to create content on Twitter or move from other social media platforms.

“Awesome!! Good development and good number of Audiences may shift from YouTube,” a user replied to Musk’s tweet. “This could be a good reason to transition for podcasts. Especially in finance tech. More intuitive than browsing Spotify,” another user replied.

Recently, Musk said that the company will try to rehire some of the 6,300 employees that it fired in the past. The number of people in the company went down by 80 percent, according to a report. This was said to lower the cost and help Twitter get back on track.

He also recently named Linda Yaccarino, the former advertising chief of NBCUniversal, as the new CEO of the Bird app.

In a tweet on May 12, Musk confirmed that Yaccarino would become the new CEO of the platform. Yaccarino will concentrate on the business operations, while Musk will focus on the app’s new technology and product design.
