The highly anticipated ‘Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story’ has premiered last May 4. The limited series is a prequel to the original Bridgerton series, which ran for two seasons.
The first season of Bridgerton premiered in 2020, while the second season was released in 2022. ‘Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story’ travels back many years before the story of Bridgerton started. It follows the story of a young Queen Charlotte (India Amarteifio) and how the monarch rose to love and power with young King George (Corey Mylchreest). The series travels back in time to when the country was beginning to embrace a societal shift.
In the series, young Charlotte was betrothed to the young King George, the ruler of England. She married the king against her will and later saw the struggles of living the life of a queen. The series showed how she navigated her life as a royal while the king suffered from an unknown illness. While the show noted that the story was a “fiction inspired by fact”, it was said that the series was inspired from the lives of the British rulers of the same name in history.
The series was directed by Tom Verica and created by Shonda Rhimes.
Many fans who have watched the series have expressed their amusement and appreciation. Many have even claimed that it is the best story in the entire Bridgerton universe. Below are some of the fans’ reactions and thoughts after watching the 6-episode series.
#QueenCharlotte premieres at midnight and I must say, I think it's one of the best shows Netflix has ever made.
It is everything you love about Shonda Rhimes plus star-making performances from India Amarteifio, Corey Mylchreest, and Arsema Thomas. I was genuinely blown away 👑 pic.twitter.com/OEOY07TgNF

thinking about how #queencharlotte was the best bridgerton season cause they actually focused on the main couple and other arcs were given to characters we loved like brimsley and agatha. the power of a season without the featherington’s is something else.pic.twitter.com/WHtKJTRkPX

this is the BEST love story in the whole Bridgerton universe I don't care.
The love, the sacrifices, the cure, the dedication they had for each other was something else.
This story literally shattered my heart and then healed it 🥹❤️🩹 pic.twitter.com/zrLolQXZO4— mrs. lamoglia (@ronsbee) May 7, 2023
#QueenCharlotte is the best Bridgerton story, and needed at least two more episodes. Charlotte and George's story is heartbreaking. Lady Danbury is the best character. Lots of interesting ideas around mental health, older women's romantic agency, and how royalty sucks for all. pic.twitter.com/KUsI8l8i03

“I fell in love with Charlotte and George’s story. They have the best love story in this show’s history,” an online user tweeted. “Ok I think Queen Charlotte and King George have the best love story so far in the Bridgerton world. They really said in sickness and in health and meant it,” another user tweeted.
