Jennie Kim, member of the K-Pop group BLACKPINK, made another milestone by attending her first Met Gala. Another plus is that she is one of Karl Lagerfeld’s handpicked muses for the house of Chanel, honoring the late designer as she walks on the red carpet.
Jennie told internet personality and model Emma Chamberlain that her fellow BLACKPINK Rose gave her an advice before she attended this year’s Met Gala.
“Rosie was here last year and said, ‘Go and have fun!’,” said Kim.
Kim wore that night a replica of Lagerfeld’s look 164 from the latter’s 1990 ready-to-wear collection, which is practically a mini-dress. Made by the Chanel team, the dress serves as an answer to her often query of the attendees’ way of sitting once inside the event.
The satin bustier dress is adorned with a white camellia and ribbon tie at the bodice.
When fans saw what she wore, they named her ‘Human Chanel’ as she also serves as an ambassador of the brand on the event.
Twitter user @ot4shvt uploaded additional photos of Kim that reads a caption ‘jennie looks like a movie star from 90s.’

In addition to some milestones like headlining Coachella with her fellow BLACKPINK members and attending her first Met Gala, Kim is also set to star in the long-postponed series The Idol. She’ll get to work with R&B singer The Weeknd and actress Lily-Rose Depp. The series will first premiere at the Cannes Film Festival and then heads into streaming via HBO Max.
In a recent interview, Kim said that she de-stresses by taking care of her mental and physical health amid recent activities.
“For the past few years, having my close friends, having my family around, and just trying to balance that work life and personal life was very important for me,” she said.
“Because once you get caught in one life, if that’s not balanced, I think that’s when everything starts collapsing. I don’t think one specific thing could de-stress me because we’ve got something going on every single moment, but keeping a positive mind, just taking care of your mental health and your body, is definitely something that I do…I meditate, stretch, read, sleep,” Kim added.
