‘This is my body’: Rachel McAdams shows off armpit hairs in ‘minimally retouched’ photoshoot

In her recent digital magazine shoot for Bustle, Canadian star and ‘Mean Girls’ alum Rachel McAdams showed us her love for the ‘juxtaposition of beauty, glam, fantasy, and then truth’ as she flaunts her unshaven armpits in an artistic pose.

In the feature, McAdams slayed in her black suit while relaxing on a red couch. She then requested the team to retouch her photos ‘as minimally as possible’ to keep them real. In a short interview, the 44-year-old actress shared a glimpse of her aesthetic realities and positive body image.

“With this shoot, I’m wearing latex underwear. But I’ve had two children. This is my body, and I think that’s so important to reflect back out to the world,” the actress said.

“It’s OK to look your best and work at it and be healthy, but that’s different for everyone,” she added.

In 2018, the ‘About Time’ actor started her journey to ‘body positivity’ in a photoshoot she did for Girls Girls Girls Magazine, in which the then-mother-of-one showcased her beauty in Versace and Bulgari — as well as breast pumps. The said photoshoot, which was done to promote the 2017 film, ‘Disobedience’ has taken just six months of dealing with postpartum and while she was still breastfeeding.

Aside from her body, McAdams opened up about her missed movie opportunities and her two-year career hiatus.

The actress stated: “There’s certainly things like ‘I wish I’d done that,'” referring to roles she declined like in ‘The Devil Wears Prada’, ‘Casino Royale’, ‘Mission: Impossible III’, and more. However, she realized that there were the right people for the roles she turned down.

As for her two-year break from acting, McAdams explained how difficult it was for her to miss many opportunities on the big screen.

“I felt guilty for not capitalizing on the opportunity that I was being given, because I knew I was in such a lucky spot. But I also knew it wasn’t quite jiving with my personality and what I needed to stay sane. There were definitely some anxious moments of wondering if I was just throwing it all away, and why was I doing that? It’s taken years to understand what I intuitively was doing.”

After a few years of not accepting roles, McAdams is back in the highly anticipated film, ‘Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret’, which is based on the best-selling novel by the American author, Judy Blume. The flick will have its world premiere at the San Francisco International Film Festival on April 23 and is slated for release on April 28.
