Get ready for a day of visionary thinking, innovative ideas, and solutions-driven discussions at FUSION 2023

Amidst a volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous world, our governance systems must be resilient and futures-ready. Foresight and futures thinking involves evidence-based anticipation, to explore the opportunities and threats in order  to strengthen the capacity of the country against future shocks and disruptions.

The Governance Futures Lab (GFL), under the National College of Public Administration in University of the Philippines – Diliman, is proud to present FUSION 2023, — a one-of-a-kind event, packed with top-notch speakers, thought-provoking panels, and exciting competitions.

With the theme, “Forging Governance Frontiers through Foresight and Futures Thinking,” this one-day event aims to address the current emerging societal challenges in the Philippines, while also capacitating students, government officials, members of the private sector and civil society, and the general public with skills and knowledge on anticipatory governance. The event is divided into three main parts: the Futures-Movers Competition, Futures Talks, and Futures Chat:

Futures-Movers Competition – Finals

The first leg of the event will be the final round of the policy brief and policy pitch competition tackling issues in transportation in local and regional governments. From a total of 20 groups from different universities and colleges nationwide, the top 5 finalists will present their outputs, to be judged by a panel of experts, where the group with the most feasible, agile, and clear policy recommendations will be hailed as the Champion.  Not only will this competition foster critical thinking, policy analysis, and futures thinking competencies in public administration students, but will also produce relevant, sustainable, and impactful policy solutions to our existing issues in public transportation.

Futures Talks

The Futures Talks is a series of short talks and presentations by experts across the disciplines of technology, governance, education, and labor on the current state of artificial intelligence (AI) in their respective domains. This segment will surely spark the discourse on the implications of AI integration across disciplines and explore the specific challenges and opportunities arising with the advent of advanced machine learning and outputs within select industries.

Futures Chat

Following shortly after the Futures Talks will be the Futures Chat, a policy roundtable discussion that aims to map out the governance framework and policy directions for AI governance in the Philippines. In light of the speed of technological development, increasing accessibility, and its corresponding risks of Artificial Intelligence, the Philippines needs to meet AI with anticipatory and proactive governance measures in order to responsibly and effectively address both the promises and perils that lie ahead.

Join us on March 31, 2023 (Friday) at the International Center for Public Administration (ICPA) at the National College of Public Administration and Governance, University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City. For those who can not attend on-site, FUSION 2023 will also be broadcasted through Zoom Communications, Inc.
