MAMAMOO’s sub-unit, MAMAMOO+, set to make a comeback next month

Another ‘subunit’ news to add to the craze: After victoriously wrapping up the Asia leg of their ‘My Con’ tour, South Korean girl group MAMAMOO is back with a bang with their sub-unit MAMAMOO+’s first-ever comeback this year!

On February 21, MAMAMOO+ confirmed their plans to return in March, seven months after their debut. Rainbow Bridge World, the group’s entertainment company, provided a statement regarding the comeback via the South Korean media outlet TV Report.

“MAMAMOO+ is preparing with the aim of making a March comeback. We will inform you of the detailed schedule later,” the announcement reads.

The sub-unit, consisting of the original act’s leader and main vocalist Solar and rapper Moonbyul, debuted in August 2022 with their release ‘Better’, which featured Korean performer BIG Naughty.

MAMAMOO’s fans, ‘MOO MOOs’ are now excited to see the duo on stage. On Twitter, supporters expressed their happiness for the ‘moonsun’ sub-unit’s return.

“Let make some noise!!! Mamamoo’s Solar and Moonbyul sub-unit lets go,” a Twitter user said.

“Imagine a MAMAMOO album full of sub-unit songs, tbh every pair works I wanna see them all,” one added.

Further details about the exact release date, song list, and album format are yet to be announced.

In 2014, the South Korean quartet, formed by RBW, and composed of four members: Solar, Hwasa, Wheein, and Moonbyul, debuted with their track ‘Mr. Ambiguous.’ Combining modern electro-pop with ‘90s R&B and pop-funk, MAMAMOO has added a dash of nostalgia to the K-pop scene since its debut.

Now, the four-member girl group has evolved as the ‘K-pop powerhouse’ and is dubbed the ‘K-pop vocal queens’ due to their powerful vocals and influential music releases. In 2016, the four members were divided into two sub-units: Solar and Wheein debuted as the ‘Angel line’ with their track, ‘Angel’ while Hwasa and Moonbyul debuted as the ‘Rapper Line’ with their release, ‘Dab Dab.’
