Rihanna’s 2023 Super Bowl performance filled with surprises for fans

Nine-time Grammy winner Rihanna sparkled like a diamond as she got back on stage on February 12 (Arizona time) after a seven-year-long hiatus.

On February 12, the ‘Diamond’ singer pulled out a spectacular performance for the Apple Music Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Rihanna’s return to one of the biggest stages was also jam-packed with surprises—including the choreography from collaborator Parris Goebel, a Fenty Beauty product placement, and a pregnancy announcement.

The Barbadian songstress sizzled in an all-red jumpsuit between a battalion of dancers clothed in white hooded jackets and white sweatpants. Rihanna performed the song ‘Bitch Better Have My Money’ first, followed by a medley of her other popular hits: ‘Diamonds’, ‘Umbrella’, ‘Where Have You Been’, ‘We Found Love’, ‘Work’, ‘Blow it Up’, ‘Run this Town’, ‘Wild Wild’, ‘Only Girl in the World’, and Rude Boy’.

During the show, Rihanna and her throng of backup dancers enticed the audience with their synchronized choreography and powerful production. The epic 13-minute performance ended with the artist getting onto the floating platform, and rising up into the air.

But, another exhilarating part aside from Rihanna’s grand setlist, glamorous costumes, and much-awaited comeback on stage is her second pregnancy revelation.

The ‘Fenty’ owner proudly showed off her baby bump during the halftime show. Shortly after the performance, Rihanna’s representative, Amanda Silverman, verified the pregnancy speculations via Rolling Stone.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that took place days before her halftime appearance, the Grammy winner admitted that she first thought twice about performing at the Super Bowl, but being a mother made her feel like she could conquer the biggest stages in the world.

“When you become a mom, there’s something that just happens where you feel like you could take on the world — you can do anything. And the Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages in the world, so as scary as that was … there’s something exhilarating about the challenge of it all. It’s important for my son to see that,” she said.

Riri also promoted her ‘Fenty’ products during the event when she pulled out a Fenty Beauty compact while on stage. The Oscar-nominated singer and prominent businesswoman launched Fenty Beauty in 2017. Her cosmetic business helped her reach billionaire status in 2021.
