Alt-rock artist DE’WAYNE shares sophomore album ‘My Favorite Blue Jeans’

Alt-rock artist DE’WAYNE has released his sophomore album ‘My Favorite Blue Jeans’ via Hopeless Records alongside a captivating visual for lead track “SHE’S MY (SEXI BOY)”. With a hard-driving rock sound that’s packed with hooks and loaded with truth, ‘My Favorite Blue Jeans’ is a brilliant new path in DE’WAYNE’s career that
points to an undeniably bright future. Fans can listen to ‘My Favorite Blue Jeans’ here: ffm.to/MFBJ and watch the video for “SHE’S MY (SEXI BOY)” here: ffm.to/sexiboyvideo

These eleven songs find the Los Angeles-based musician exploring new routes on his emotional road map, embracing the passion of new love as well as the freedom that comes with true self-acceptance– featuring collaborations with Good Charlotte, I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME, grandson, POORSTACY, and WILLOW who played guitar on “SIMPLE”.

DE’WAYNE hit the studio with Robbie Hiser—who served as executive producer on ‘My Favorite Blue Jeans’ including the tracks “SHE’S MY (SEXI BOY)”, “TAKE THIS CROWN”, and “DIE OUT HERE”—as the pair struck instant creative kismet, the songs flowing forth like water from the tap. “Every song we made was better than the last,” DE’WAYNE recalls. “We got into a really great groove. He allowed me to be so free and get emotional, and I don’t feel like he judged me at all. Having that is great, and he’s a damn good producer, too.

The video plays out like your typical action film as DE’WAYNE is kidnapped and tortured for information, but with the twist that his saviour is a woman, unlike the typical action movie tropes. The track turns societal gender norms on their head with lyrical content speaking to his relationship with Willow Smith and how they two take on different roles from what is generally expected. “I love having a woman coming to save the day because that’s usually what happens in real life,” explains DE’WAYNE on the video for “SHE’S MY (SEXI BOY)”.

I went through hell over the past few years,” he continues while discussing the aims and achievements that ‘My Favorite Blue Jeans’ represents. “I wanted something so bad, but I felt like I wasn’t able to reach it. With this record, I took a really big step towards believing in myself. I’m talking about struggle and love, and the will to live.” And ‘My Favorite Blue Jeans’ is an indelible document of that passion, cementing DE’WAYNE as one of the most vital artists across genres working right now.

DE'WAYNE

Signed to management team MDDN of Joel and Benji Madden, this album features his latest single “TAKE THIS CROWN ft Good Charlotte” symbolizing a passing of the alt-rock torch. The first single and video for “DIE OUT HERE” featuring POORSTACY dropped a few months back, followed by his new song “GOOD MOOD” with grandson, furthering the sustainability of alt-rock music in the mainstream. After his breakout American and US tour this summer, DE’WAYNE is on track to clear pathways for more barrier-breaking alt-rock music in the mainstream. At Reading and Leeds festivals, DE’WAYNE was deemed a breakout artist by NME naming his set one of the best of the weekend, “By the end of his set, he’d won (the crowd) all over with his rockstar confidence and an energetic set of party-starting bangers that
couldn’t care less about genre boundaries. The performance really felt like the start of something beautiful“.

And as DE’WAYNE looks ahead on ‘My Favorite Blue Jeans’, there’s also moments where he takes stock of where he came from—like the driving “THANK YOU FOR LYING”, an ode to his father’s words of encouragement (or “lies,” as he puts it) about following his own dreams. “As a kid, he told me how great I could be, even as no one my family had gone out on a limb and reached for their dreams the way I did,” he reflects. “That’s the reason I’m here. I’ve made songs that are more negative about him in the past, but I wanted to highlight the fact that he told me those things, and I ran with it.
