Calum Scott makes a comeback in Manila with the Bridges Asia Tour

Calum Scott gave his Pinoy fans all the reasons to scream, shout, and cry during his concert at the New Frontier Theater last October 20. The British singer returned to the Philippine stage four years after his concert in 2018.

Opening the show is New Zealand singer-songwriter Mitch James. He serenaded the crowd with a few of his songs, like “Japan,” “Bright Blue Skies,” and “Sunday Morning.”

The venue erupted into loud screams as Calum Scott finally entered the stage with his new single, “Rise.”

He officially welcomed the audience after his second song, “Hello, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Bridges World Tour in Manila, Philippines. Thank you so much for coming. We’re gonna take you out on a journey, we’re gonna make you dance, we’re gonna make you cry. We’re so happy to be here.”

He has also spoken some Filipino words in between his speeches like “kamusta kayo?” and “salamat.” The pop singer conquered the stage and performed his hits and new songs like “I’ll Be There,” “Cross Your Mind,” “Biblical” and many more.

Few upbeat songs later, Scott went on the left side of the stage and called it the “crying corner.”

“As you can see, a stool has entered the stage which means it’s about to get very serious. This is the part of the show that we’d like to call the crying corner,” he said, and later told the audience that the next four songs are going to be emotional and will make the audience cry at least once.

“We always put ourselves in such pressure to look the best, to be the best. I see perfection wherever I go. I’ve been walking in Manila today and I see beauty everywhere,” he said before singing “Flaws”.

In between the emotional songs, he talked about loving flaws and accepting sexuality. The singer also shared his inspirational journey as to how he learned to accept his sexuality and how some of his songs helped people come out.

He followed “Flaws” with “The Way You Loved Me,” “Boys In The Street,” and “Bridges.” And fairly enough, some people in the audience silently shed a tear. This only goes to show that Scott is not only a great singer, but also a great story teller.

After a few heartfelt songs, Scott set the energy level a little higher with “Where Are You Now,” “Run With Me” and his own rendition of Maroon 5’s “This Love.” The audience stood up as the singer introduced one of his biggest hits and crowd’s favorite, “You Are The Reason” which he dedicated to all his fans. “Manila, you are my reason,” he said as he ended the song.

Just as you thought the show was over, the crowd even went wilder as Scott welcomed Darren Espanto to perform an endearing duet version of “Heaven.”

Calum concluded the show with a powerful performance of his 2016 hit “Dancing on My Own.”

This event was made possible by AEG Presents Asia and Ovation Productions.
