LOOK: Keanu Reeves returns to ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ for Phantom Liberty expansion

The open-world action-adventure game Cyberpunk 2077 is getting its first major expansion called “Phantom Liberty” as announced on a Twitch livestream by developer CD Projekt Red and it features Keanu Reeves reprising his role in the game as the character Johnny Silverhand.

The livestream showcased the first teaser trailer for Phantom Liberty and is described as a “spy-thriller expansion” for the game that will be set in a new district of Night City. Keanu Reeves also appeared during the livestream to announce his dead cyber-rocker character is returning for the Cyberpunk expansion.

The trailer does not show much detail about the new content. The character named “V” is heard repeatedly taking an oath to “faithfully serve the New United States of America,” while what seems to be the voice of Johnny Silverhand tells her that it was a bad idea.

Phantom City will be available on the Google Stadia, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X versions of the game but not on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions. The recent 1.6 patch, known as the Edgerunners Update, will be the last update for the PS4 and Xbox One versions.

The Edgerunners update will be receiving quality of life updates and other content such as new weapons, cross-progression, new cosmetic upgrades, new gigs, and even a new arcade game called Roach Race.

Cyberpunk 2077 was released in December 2020 but was received negatively due to it being in an extremely buggy state. Projekt Red spent the following years polishing the game and now plans to release the expansion sometime in 2023.
